Soth and VFN To Host Barbecue Feast on the Farm  

The Strolling of the Heifers (SOTH) and the Vermont Fresh Network (VFN) will host the second in a series of culinary celebrations created to encourage the public to increase their consumption of locally grown food as part of its Buy Local campaing. On Tuesday, August 14, 2007, SOTH and VFN will host “Barbecue Feast on the Farm,” at Sweet Tree Farm in East Dummerston,Vermont, from 5:30 – 8:00 pm. The event will feature fresh local produce, including beef barbecue, hamburgers, corn, salad and summer desserts. Sweet Tree Farm specializes in 100 percent grass fed beef, which will be used for the meal’s beef entrées. A vegetarian entrée also will be available. Catering will be provided courtesy of the Riverview Café, which is a VFN member.

On Tuesday, July 10, SOTH and VFN hosted “Strawberry Feast on the Farm” at Lilac Ridge Farm in Brattleboro. The event featured desserts created by the Riverview Café from Lilac Ridge’s fresh, organic strawberries. Over 100 people attended.
